I have been drawing and painting all of my life. This past year I started doing some collage and found it very therapeutic. Everything on display was made using old magazines. I do a lot of layering, tearing and rearranging till things just feel right. Anyone can do this. When I’m making collages I’m kind of in a meditative state. It requires a lot less concentration and effort compared to when I’m doing a detailed sketch or painting, so it’s been really fun experimenting with this medium.
I felt very inspired after reading Frank Herbert’s Dune books. The larger piece on display contains an excerpt from his ‘liturgy against fear’ which is such a powerful message especially heading into a new year.
Art is a way for me to express things I am feeling. There is something so special about creating: whether it is art, music, poetry etc…
I hope that when people see my art they feel hope and maybe even inspiration to start creating something themselves!
