Nathan Bray – Cherry, MN (Functional Pottery)
Bray makes a variety of pottery and sculpture. He focuses mainly on functional pottery and dinnerware for everyday use in the home. He enjoys using bright colors in most of his work although he also makes pottery with neutral tones of white, black, and brown.
Bray’s passion to create with clay is driven by the continuous flow of new ideas and techniques involved in the process. His work gathers influence from his passion for electricity, flowers, music, race cars, as well as graphic and pop art. In addition to functional pottery, he also dabbles in sculpture for permanent installations and sculptural art for outdoors and gardens. Throughout his career, Bray has taught at multiple facilities including the Carbondale Clay Center in Colorado and Bemidji State University. Bray has been a part of many groups and juried ceramic exhibitions across the nation and will be the featured potter at this year’s Minnesota Pottery Festival at the end of July, in Hutchinson, MN.
